MSG working group meeting

                                              First Meeting of the EITI MSG Working Group Held

On April 25, 2026, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) approved the composition of the Working Group on Addressing Legal, Procedural and Institutional Gaps in the Metal Mining Sector, including those identified in EITI Reports and Validation Reports. The Working Group includes representatives of all three MSG constituencies.

Specifically:

• Government Constituency: Seda Hakobyan, Marine Galstyan, Lusine Mkrtchyan, Geghetsik Balyan and Gor Kocharyan;
• Extractive Constituency: Nerses Karamanukyan and Taron Navasardyan;
• Civil Society Constituency: Artur Grigoryan, Sona Ayvazyan (rotational participant) and Oleg Dulgaryan (rotational participant).

Following the approval of the Working Group’s composition, its first meeting was held on May 12. During the meeting, the members agreed that the EITI National Secretariat would consolidate the legal and procedural gaps identified in EITI Reports and Validation Reports concerning the metal mining sector, together with the proposals submitted to address them, and present them to the Working Group members in a single document for assessment of the priority of the identified issues.

The Working Group members also agreed that, where necessary, the document could be supplemented with new proposals put forward by the constituencies. Following the consolidation of the assessments of the gaps and proposals included in the document, the Working Group will determine the scope of its next steps and the modalities for organising its work.

It was also agreed that the next meeting of the Working Group would be held in the third ten-day period of June, during which the consolidated results will be discussed and the Working Group’s next steps will be determined.
