Armenia continues to increase transparency beyond the requirements of the EITI standard

On June 11, 2020 the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved the legislative amendments package regulating the use of the Armenia’s subsoil  initiated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

According to the proposed amendments, starting from 2021 the publication of the non-metallic minerals extraction contracts will be mandatory, and this is an important step towards increased transparency of the natural resource management.

As a result of the adoption of this legislative initiative by the RA National Assembly, about 350 subsoil use contracts for non-metallic minerals extraction will be available for the general public and interested stakeholders.

We note that all mining contracts for the extraction of metallic minerals have been published since 2018.
