Workshop on Prevalidation process of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) with Armenia EITI MSG and Secretariat took place

 

Today, on July 10, Workshop on prevalidation process of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) with Armenia EITI MSG and Secretariat took place in Yervand Kochar Museum with support of GIZ.

The Republic of Armenia should pass the first EITI validation, which will commence in September. During the validation, the progress of the country is assessed in terms of fulfilling all the requirements of the EITI Standard. Based on the Validation Report, the EITI Board will decide country's progress (EITI status).

During the workshop was discussed EITI validation procedure, in particular, presented draft schedule for ARM validation, roles and responsibilities of the MSG/ constituencies, experiences from the German validation process.

During the meeting ware presented Prevalidation Exercise, prevalidation checklist, participants discussed specific requirements, their actual status of implementation, their assessment during validation and potential needs for adjustments.

During the workshop participants were given answers to questions of interest, as well as other sectoral issues were discussed.

The workshop was organized within the framework of the project “Support to the implementation of the global extractive industries transparency initiative (EITI) in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine” is implemented under the umbrella of the GIZ Eastern Partnership Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform, on behalf of the German Government.
